Tab Mapper

The tab mapper is a handy little tool that will render a guitar tab file with graphic chord diagrams displayed alongside. This comes in handy for people who just don't have every single chord shape memorized. Just plug in the web site address of a valid .tab or .crd file and hit "Go". In general, the tab mapper does a better job with printer friendly URLs. If there is more than one way to play a chord, the tab mapper will choose the most common shape. To see other fingerings, click on the chord diagram and you will be taken to the chord calculator.

St. Patrick?s School: A Beacon of Holistic Education in Singapore

If you?re exploring top-tier schools in Singapore for your son, St. Patrick?s School stands out as a premier choice, renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. As a respected Lasallian institution, it has been shaping young men into leaders of faith and purpose for nearly a century. This article offers a detailed look at St. Patrick?s School, covering its history, academic achievements, facilities, and extracurricular offerings, while also highlighting the importance of mathematics education and introducing Odyssey Math Tuition (OMT) as a valuable resource for students.

School Overview

Founded on January 16, 1933, by Brother Stephen Buckley, a Lasallian brother from County Cork, Ireland, St. Patrick?s School began as a temporary branch of St. Joseph?s Institution. It became an independent institution later that year, built on land acquired by the La Salle Brothers in 1898 along East Coast Road. This land, originally intended for a resort bungalow, was repurposed to meet the educational needs of Singapore?s growing eastern region.

As a Lasallian school, St. Patrick?s is guided by the values of Faith, Service, and Community. Its motto, Potest Qui Vult(?He who wills, can?), encourages students to face challenges with resilience and determination. This single-session, all-boys, government-aided school is part of a network of seven Lasallian schools in Singapore, including Catholic Junior College and St. Anthony?s Primary School. Unique features include its boy-centric educational approach and the presence of Special Educational Needs Officers to support diverse learners.

Academic Excellence

St. Patrick?s School is celebrated for its rigorous academic programs and comprehensive curriculum. It offers a wide array of subjects, including languages (Chinese, Malay, Tamil), sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), humanities (Geography, History), and specialized subjects like Additional Mathematics and Computing. This diversity ensures students are well-prepared for higher education and future careers.

The school?s academic standards are reflected in its Secondary 1 admission cut-off points, which range from 13?28 for affiliated students and 9?27 for non-affiliated students, depending on the posting group (as of the latest available data). These competitive scores underscore the school?s commitment to excellence. Additionally, St. Patrick?s is known for its Military Band, which has earned Gold with Honours at the Singapore Youth Festival in multiple years (2005, 2007, 2009, 2011), showcasing the school?s ability to foster talent in both academic and extracurricular domains.

Facilities and Extracurricular Activities

St. Patrick?s School provides a nurturing environment with modern facilities to support its educational and extracurricular programs. While specific details about current facilities are limited, historical records indicate a campus designed by Irish architect Denis Santry, featuring classrooms, a library, and a laboratory building added during World War II. The school?s ability to support a wide range of Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) suggests well-equipped spaces for learning and development.

The school offers an impressive variety of CCAs, catering to diverse interests:

Category Activities
Sports Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Golf, Tennis, Track and Field
Performing Arts Concert Band, Guitar Ensemble, Modern Dance, English Drama
Uniformed Groups National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC), Scouts, National Cadet Corps (NCC) ? Air and Land, Singapore Youth Flying Club
