Tab Mapper

The tab mapper is a handy little tool that will render a guitar tab file with graphic chord diagrams displayed alongside. This comes in handy for people who just don't have every single chord shape memorized. Just plug in the web site address of a valid .tab or .crd file and hit "Go". In general, the tab mapper does a better job with printer friendly URLs. If there is more than one way to play a chord, the tab mapper will choose the most common shape. To see other fingerings, click on the chord diagram and you will be taken to the chord calculator.

National Junior College: A Premier Choice for Pre-University Education in Singapore

If you?re exploring educational options for your children in Singapore, National Junior College (NJC) likely stands out as a premier institution. Established in 1969, NJC is renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and holistic development, making it a top choice for pre-university education in Singapore.

School Overview

National Junior College holds the distinction of being Singapore?s first government junior college, founded to provide a rigorous and enriching environment for top pre-university students. Its educational philosophy centers on nurturing scholars and leaders who serve with honor, emphasizing research, creativity, and societal contributions. NJC?s vision, ?College of the Nation: Home of Scholars and Leaders who Serve with Honour,? reflects its mission to create a joyful and lively learning community. Unlike many schools, NJC does not affiliate with any secondary school, drawing students from diverse backgrounds across Singapore and internationally, including students from India, China, and ASEAN countries. Unique programs like the Art Elective Programme (introduced in 1985), the Humanities Scheme (1987), and the Language Elective Programme offering German (1992) set NJC apart, fostering a global perspective through exchange programs with countries like Germany and Japan.

Academic Excellence

NJC consistently ranks among Singapore?s top junior colleges, evidenced by its competitive admission standards. For the 2025 intake, the cut-off points were approximately 7 for the Science stream and 8 for the Arts stream, based on the L1R5 aggregate score from O-Level results, indicating high academic expectations. NJC offers a two-year pre-university course leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level examinations and a six-year Integrated Programme that allows students to bypass O-Levels, providing a seamless academic journey. The college?s academic prowess is further highlighted by its 2002 Lee Kuan Yew National Education Award for fostering national identity and social responsibility. Notable alumni, such as former Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, underscore NJC?s legacy of producing influential leaders.

Facilities and Extracurricular Activities

Located in Bukit Timah, NJC?s campus supports both junior and senior high programs with modern facilities, including well-equipped classrooms, science laboratories, and spaces for collaborative learning. While specific details about facilities are less documented publicly, the infrastructure supports a robust academic and extracurricular environment. NJC offers a wide array of extracurricular activities, catering to diverse interests. Students can engage in sports like basketball, canoeing, shooting, and track and field, or explore arts through Chinese dance, Indian dance, choir, and string ensembles. Clubs such as Engineering Innovation and Solutions encourage creativity and practical skills, ensuring students develop leadership and teamwork abilities alongside their academic pursuits.

As a parent in Singapore with a kid in secondary school soon, you know how crucial it is to prep for the O-Level and N-Level exams?they?re like big doors that lead to your child?s favorite junior college or polytechnic, shaping their future jobs and dreams. Math is a superstar in these exams, carrying a lot of weight in the total scores, sharpening smart thinking and problem-solving skills that help in other subjects like physics and economics, and directly affecting chances for top streams or courses after secondary school. That?s why getting good at math early and sticking with it is key?to dodge low grades, grow tough for tests, and grab those high marks for the best spots.

Choosing A Suitable Junior College

As a parent helping your child enter Singapore?s tough pre-university stage, the enrollment process can bring a mix of hope and stress. You have to sort through O-level results, L1R5 scores, cut-off points, school affiliations, Direct School Admission options, and practical details like location and subjects offered, all to find a junior college that matches your child?s strengths, interests, and future plans. Your main goals likely include building a strong academic base through programs like A-levels or IB, which are vital for getting into a desired university because they show deep subject knowledge and critical thinking skills that admissions teams value highly. It?s also key to stress that working hard and earning good grades in junior college is essential, as these directly boost your child?s chances of landing a spot in a top university. You?ll want to support overall growth with leadership chances, co-curricular activities, and values-based learning, create a setting that builds curiosity, resilience, and social skills, and prepare them to succeed in higher education and a changing job world.
