Tab Mapper
The tab mapper is a handy little tool that will render a guitar tab file with graphic chord diagrams displayed alongside. This comes in handy for people who just don't have every single chord shape memorized. Just plug in the web site address of a valid .tab or .crd file and hit "Go". In general, the tab mapper does a better job with printer friendly URLs. If there is more than one way to play a chord, the tab mapper will choose the most common shape. To see other fingerings, click on the chord diagram and you will be taken to the chord calculator.

Landscaping in Tomball, TX
Landscaping Tomball TX splits two ways: older lots under heritage oaks whose roots decide where a terrace can go, and new-build lots on a compacted pad where nothing grows until the pad is ripped. Both need the ground read first. Complete projects, and premium work where the lot calls for it. Call to schedule a visit.
The ground here
A hundred-year oak or a two-year pad
Tomball?s older streets and the lots in Lakewood Forest and Spring Creek Oaks sit under live oaks and post oaks that were here before the houses. Their root plates run wider than the canopy, in the top eighteen inches of soil, and a patio base cut through them is a slow way to kill a tree the whole street values. The newer subdivisions have the opposite problem: a slab pad compacted for a house, sodded over, and browning by the second August because roots stop at two inches.
Either way the job starts with the ground and the trees, not the plant list. The design-build method is the same across the county; in Tomball the first drawing shows the root plate or the ripped pad, and everything else fits around it.

A patio base cut through an oak’s roots
CauseFeeder roots severed for six inches of aggregate. The oak declines over three seasons and the shade the patio was built for goes with it.

02Sod on a builder pad
CauseTurf laid on ground compacted for a slab. Roots stop at two inches and the lawn browns in year two.
FixPad ripped, topsoil restored, fall set away from the house, then turf and beds.

CauseA slab, a strip of lawn and a bed that do not add up to anywhere to sit.
FixOne room: a terrace sized for a table, a seat wall for its edge, and planting that closes the fence line.

CauseA tidy-up during oak wilt season opens wounds the beetles find. In a street of connected oaks it spreads.

Tomball questions with numbers in the answers
The pad under the sod was compacted for a slab. Roots stop at two inches. We rip it, restore topsoil and set the grade before turf; it adds a day to the job and is the difference between a lawn and a rug.
Can you build a patio under a big oak?Yes, routed around the root plate on a permeable base with no cuts through feeder roots. Mapping the plate is the first day of the design, not an afterthought.
What does a project cost in Tomball?It depends on the lot: work under established trees, a complete design with terrace and planting, or a larger premium design. Written after the visit.
When is it safe to prune the oaks?November through January. The Texas A&M Forest Service advises against February through June, when oak wilt beetles find fresh cuts. Any wound made in season is painted at once.
